1936 Dodge Coupe - 1958 392 Hemi – 727 Trans

You are looking at my classic 30’s Mopar hot rod. I built this car the right way with all the good stuff and features. Over the summer I drove it about 5000 miles and worked out all the bugs. Now it’s ready for final body and paintwork. I have picked a two color exterior, bronze upper and pearl silver lower, but it sure looks good in primer. The frame is boxed and fitted with a 1989 Dakota independent front suspension and a 9-inch Ford rear end, with coil over shocks. The underside has been under coated with por-15.  The car handles great at 80 mph you can take your hands off the steering wheel and it’s straight as an arrow. The body is all metal, except for the radiator shell and running boards. The massive power plant is a fresh 1958 392 hemi. I found this motor in the original imperial car. It had been stored in a carriage house in Michigan and had not been plated since 1964. The Hemi had 28000 miles on it before the rebuild. As I wanted a daily driver hot rod, I choose components that would provide a strong performing street machine while not breaking parts or the bank. The 1958 392 hemi is a rare find as most of them were used to power the 60’s top fuel and alcohol race cars. This motor is naturally aspirated with a Wieand tunnel ram intake and a 780cfm Holley carburetor, 2 ½” headers. A new hi-po cam, hydraulic lifters, .010 main bearings, .020 rod bearings, .030 over pistons and rings and gaskets, along with a performance valve grind, new oil pump, timing chain and gears were add to the package. The coupe sports a fresh 727 - 3 speed automatic built to handle the Hemi’s strong horsepower complete with a new 2500 rpm converter. Some of the features of the car are: power steering, power brakes, shaved handles, suicide doors, hidden hinges, power door locks, power trunk lock, power windows (not installed yet), 6-way power seats, tilt and telescope steering column, CD player, and Auto-meter gauges. This car sounds as good as it looks, and drives like a dream.  There were no short cuts taken during the building of this coupe and all the components are new and top of the line parts such as Lokar, Ron Francis wiring, Le Carra wheel, LyTherm-max insulation, Walker Radiator,  Rocky hinge, MP brakes, Bear Claw power latches, LED tail lights, Halogen Frenched headlights, SS Rock Valley gas tank MSD ignition system and Weld Pro Wheels. This car even features a power license plate; it goes up when the ignition is off and down when the car is running. Nothing was left out! I hope you enjoy the web site that Steve created for me.
